Berita mengenai peluncuran system operasi terbaru Windows 7 masih belum pudar, namun Microsoft telah mempersiapkan sebuah system operasi Windows 8 di tahun 2012. Minggu lalu, dalam blog Microsoft Kitchen, disebutkan sepasang Windows Server akan siap di tahun 2012 seiring dengan dirilisnya Windows 8. Microsoft juga telah menampilkannya dalam event Professional Developer Conference di Los Angeles(minggu ke-2 Desember).
Dalam event tersebut tidak disebutkan informasi tambahan selain dari persiapan Microsoft yang menyebutkan akan meng-update system operasi setiap 2 tahun, yang berarti Windows 8 akan segera hadir. Microsoft juga belum menjelaskan secara rinci untuk mengembangkan Windows 8, termasuk tanda-tanda akan merekrut para ahli untuk membantu membangun system tersebut.
Kini Microsoft juga sedang mengerjakan service pack pertama dari Windows 7 dan akan dirilis di Januari 2010 dalam versi beta.(berita.net)

Menurutnya, pembangunan program ini akan memakan waktu sekitar empat bulan atau lebih.
