Memory tersebut diberi nama Magnetoresistive Random Access Memory (MRAM), memory ini bukan hanya lebih cepat daripada RAM tetapi juga Lebih hemat Energi. Kehadiran MRAM sepertinya akan meningkatkan perkembangan mobile computing dan level penyimpanan dengan cara membalik arah kutub utara-selatan medan magnit.

Akses internet nirkabel menggunakan teknologi jaringan Wi-Fi dinilai masih tetap diperlukan operator untuk menutupi keterbatasan area cakupan jaringan layanan pita lebar nirkabel yang diselenggarakan melalui infrastruktur 3G maupun Wimax.
"Wi-Fi masih dibutuhkan sebagai komplemen," kata Bart Burnstein, Vice President Product Management and Business Development Ruckus Wireless, dalam jumpa pers pengenalan produk Wi-Fi terbarunya di Penang Bistro, Jakarta, Kamis (19/11/2009).
Jika dahulu Wi-Fi hanya menjangkau area 100 meter dengan kecepatan transfer data maksimal 386 Kbps, kini Wi-Fi telah berevolusi dengan jangkauan area maksimal 12 kilometer dengan kecepatan transfer data 60 Mbps melalui solusi end to end alias dua titik Wi-Fi mengapit di sepanjang area tersebut.
Semakin pendek jaraknya, kecepatan transfer teknologi yang disebut Smart Wi-Fi pun semakin kencang. Jika jarak yang diapit hanya satu kilometer, maka kecepatan transfer data maksimalnya bisa mencapai 180 Mbps. Demikian teknologi yang katanya bisa digelar oleh Ruckus Wireless.
Meski cakupan jangkauan dan kecepatannya bisa menyaingi 3G dan Wimax, namun Burnstein menolak kalau produk Smart Wi-Fi yang diusungnya akan bersaing secara head to head dengan kedua infrastruktur itu. "Wi-Fi yang kami tawarkan ibarat perpanjangan tangan saja," ia menjelaskan.
Operator yang menggelar teknologi Wi-Fi ini pun katanya tidak akan terbebani investasi tambahan yang signifikan dari sisi belanja modal (capex) dan biaya operasional (opex). Terlebih, penggunaan Wi-Fi tidak mengeluarkan biaya sepeser pun untuk lisensi frekuensinya karena melalui akses publik 2,4 GHz.
"Smart Wi-Fi yang kami tawarkan bahkan bisa menghemat investasi capex hingga lima kali lipat dan opex 30 kali lipat jika dibandingkan dengan biaya yang dikeluarkan operator untuk membangun infrastruktur jaringan Wimax," klaim Bursntein.
